Pop Pom Boom – Bass Fishing in Orlando, FL
Ron was visiting from St. Augustine, FL looking to catch some Orlando bass. We went out on the Butler Chain and crushed them! This is the perfect place to not only start fishing but also learn a new technique!
Top water fishing early in the morning is the best way to get addicted to bass fishing. Ron was excited to try topwater fishing for the first time. The 6 am bite was on fire.
Sometimes bigger fish like to eat early and then rest for the day. This was the cast on this trip. Some big bass were biting on top and we capitalized on them in a big way!
A 3” Gray Yozuri Popper over open water was absolutely destructive. These bass were schooling in open water and some big bass were in the mix. Ron tossed out the Popper in the middle of the lake and lost track of it. A couple of pops later all we could hear was the drag screaming!!!
I started to scream!! Captain’s excitement is a real thing when I know the customer just got on the fish they are after, especially on topwater. Some fish are special. Some stories like this one need to be shared. This was a special day for all involved.
As we reeled this fish in, we knew it was a giant. The fish started to try to jump and we got even more excited. When the fish got to the boat, the adrenaline and anxiety really started to set in.
We landed and boated this bass. It was Ron’s personal best weighing in at 10.2 pounds. Now, this is what we fish for. This is why we become fishing guides. This is why we explore Florida because this was a moment no one involved will ever forget!
